Minutes of the meeting held on Monday 2nd June 2008 at 7.30 pm, Boarhills Village Hall
Present: R Simpson, L Matthews, P Duncan, L Roger, R Pegden, Peter Sharples
Apologies were received from Cllr D Macgregor, Cllr E Riches, Cllr M Scott-Hayward, V Kilgour, M Craig
Dunino Footbridge: R Simpson and L Roger had had a site meeting with Alisdair Roger to discuss the possibility of repairing the bridge, and reported on it to the meeting, as AR could not attend the meeting on the Monday. He will get a price for the steel and work involved in replacing the RSJs and deck. The amount of work required to repair the stone piers may not be apparent until the metal work is removed. It was agreed that this was a worthwhile project, which should be pursued. It may be possible to access additional funds if these are required. Thanks are due to Peter Sharples for his advice on the project to date. LM to speak to Alison Irvine in the first instance.
Water Supply: Work is about to start on the new main.
Flooding: no recent developments.
Lighting: funding for additional hall light still to be identified.
Neighbourhood Watch update: Some signs have been put up in Dunino.
Upper Kenly Wind Farm: it was decided that a letter should be sent from the Community Council to the University summarising our position, as follows:
Our Community Council would be pleased to comment on the University's proposals once they have been developed further. In particular, we need objective information on number, location, height, size of the turbines, construction access routes and routing for power lines. It would be premature to comment on the feasibility study as it stands, without a great deal more information from you, as we are sure you will appreciate. We look forward to hearing from you once you are in a position to furnish this information, at your earliest convenience.
We would also wish it to be noted that, contrary to statements made by the University Media Relations spokesman Niall Scott to the St Andrews Citizen of 21 March 2008, no formal approach by the University has been made for our views, and we have made no comment, formally or informally, on the study to either the University or the Press. Nor has the University made any representation to "fully canvass" local residents. Indeed, their ad hoc approach to local landowners has probably cast more heat than light on the debate. There is a formal process for community consultation in the planning system, and we look forward to responding within that framework.
Beach Clean-up: date to be confirmed.
